Group Tax Manager - TBAuctions
Amsterdam
what do you do?

TBAuctions is a PE-backed, multicultural technology company that is both maturing internally and growing rapidly externally. With the motto “Nothing of value should be lost”, TBAuctions operates a multi-service auction platform that connects buyers and sellers across Europe. With more than 700,000 bidders from over 170 countries and annual net auction sales of approximately €1.5 billion, TBAuctions has grown into a leading European online auction platform.

As Group Tax Manager, you will be the internal point of contact for tax-related topics across TBAuctions. The focus of the role is transfer pricing, while you will also support and coordinate broader international tax matters. You will work closely with local finance teams, external tax advisers, the group auditor and stakeholders across the business. As the first dedicated tax professional within TBAuctions, you will have the opportunity to shape the tax function, including its priorities, processes, documentation and way of working.

A key part of your role will be owning and further developing the group transfer pricing model. You will harmonise models across brands and countries, redesign remuneration models as brands are migrated onto ATLAS, and lead transfer pricing reorganisations. You will assess cross-border and intercompany transactions, maintain the group’s master and local files and keep benchmarking studies up to date. You will also oversee intercompany financing and act as a counterpart to the group auditor and local tax authorities.

Alongside transfer pricing, you will coordinate indirect tax matters across the group, including VAT, e-invoicing, e-reporting and customs. You will work with local finance teams to create greater consistency across countries and lead the implementation of new e-invoicing and e-reporting requirements. You will also support corporate income tax and tax accounting, working with external advisers and Group Finance. This includes overseeing tax positions, reviewing current and deferred tax within reporting and forecasting, assessing permanent establishment exposure and identifying opportunities for structural improvements. You will also monitor withholding tax and dividend flows.

Good to know

What makes this role particularly interesting is the combination of specialist tax responsibility and the opportunity to build. You will be the first dedicated tax hire at TBAuctions, giving you real ownership over how the tax function develops. At the same time, you will operate in a fast-growing international group where the scope of the role can gradually broaden towards a broader International Tax Manager position, including strategic tax matters and M&A.

Who are you?

You are a tax professional who is comfortable being the specialist in the room, while also having a genuine interest in the broader tax landscape. You have a strong foundation in transfer pricing and/or VAT and can connect detailed tax matters to the wider business context. You enjoy working in an international environment where different countries, cultures and ways of working come together, and you are comfortable moving between detailed analysis and broader structures.

“You take ownership of your work and are pragmatic in your approach. You know that in a fast-growing organisation, information is not always complete and that progress matters. You are comfortable working independently, building the underlying analysis and documentation yourself, while also knowing when to involve colleagues or external advisers. You communicate clearly and can make complex tax matters understandable to both finance professionals and business stakeholders.”

  • A completed degree in Tax Law, Fiscal Economics, Accounting or a comparable field – additional professional tax qualifications are an advantage;
  • Relevant experience, gained in a Big Four or reputable tax practice, an in-house tax function within an international group, or a combination of both;
  • Demonstrable knowledge of transfer pricing, with a working understanding of corporate income tax in a multinational environment;
  • Experience leading tax projects across countries and functions and working with external advisers;
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills, with an affinity for systems and data;
  • A hands-on approach and willingness to build files, models and documentation yourself;
  • Fluent in English – Dutch is a strong plus;
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to make complex tax matters understandable to a broad range of stakeholders;
  • Comfortable working across different cultures and able to build trust and influence outcomes with both internal and external stakeholders;
  • A genuine interest in continuing to develop your knowledge across the broader international tax landscape.

The organisation combines the entrepreneurial character of a fast-growing company with the increasing structure and scale of a European platform. Collaboration across countries and functions is an important part of how the organisation works, with local teams working closely together within the broader group.
The company is also in a continuous process of professionalisation.
