Boels has grown from a Dutch family business into one of Europe’s leading equipment rental companies, operating across 27 countries through around 80 legal entities. With acquisitions driving its international expansion, the Group financial control team plays a key role in supporting growth and bringing an increasingly complex financial landscape together.
The team operates at the heart of a dynamic business, integrating new companies, navigating evolving IFRS requirements and strengthening financial systems and reporting. This creates an environment where finance professionals can take ownership, tackle complex challenges and make a visible impact across an international group.
As Financial Controller at Boels, you focus on consolidation and reporting within an international business that continues to grow and evolve. Based at the headquarters in Sittard, you join a Group Financial Control team of eight Financial Controllers, with expertise in IFRS, audits, consolidation & reporting and fixed assets. You report to Team Lead Financial Control Chris Hesp and work closely with your fellow Financial Controllers and Finance colleagues across the international organization.
You take an important role in the monthly consolidation and reporting cycle. During the first days of each month, you bring together financial information from across the Group, analyse the figures and identify and resolve inconsistencies to ensure timely and reliable Group reporting. With around 80 legal entities across 27 countries, this requires both a strong eye for detail and the ability to maintain overview.
Beyond the monthly cycle, you can improve how consolidation and reporting are organized. You identify opportunities to increase quality and efficiency, optimize processes in Tagetik and work on broader Finance improvement projects. As Boels integrates acquired businesses into the Group, you also help bring entities, systems and reporting processes together.
This gives you a role that combines a strong recurring responsibility with plenty of room for improvement and project work. You work at the heart of Group Finance, gain exposure to an international organization and use your expertise to make consolidation and reporting increasingly efficient, reliable and scalable.
At Boels, you work at the heart of Group Finance, bringing together financial information from around 80 entities across 27 countries. You combine ownership of the consolidation and reporting cycle with the opportunity to improve processes, systems and ways of working across an international group.
You are a finance professional who enjoys working with complex financial information and understands what it takes to bring different entities together into reliable Group reporting. You are analytical, accurate and comfortable working with large amounts of financial data, while maintaining a clear view of the bigger picture.
You combine a strong technical foundation with a pragmatic approach. When figures do not reconcile or information is incomplete, you investigate what is happening, connect with the right people and find a solution. You do not simply complete the reporting cycle; you want to understand the numbers and continuously look for ways to improve the underlying process.
Boels is a large and dynamic organization where acquisitions, integrations and changing priorities are part of everyday business. You feel comfortable in that environment and know how to perform when deadlines matter. Particularly during the first days of the month, you enjoy working together towards a clear result while maintaining quality and accuracy.
You work independently, take ownership and naturally connect with Finance colleagues across different countries and entities. You are curious and proactive and enjoy being part of an ambitious Financial Control team where knowledge is shared and processes are continuously challenged and improved.
“Consolidation at Boels is more than bringing numbers together. In a Group shaped by international growth and acquisitions, you continuously improve how financial information comes together, while ensuring reliable reporting across an increasingly complex organization.”
Boels Rental began in 1977 with an entrepreneurial idea: Pierre Boels Sr. started renting out tools and construction equipment from a handful of garage units in Sittard. Almost fifty years later, that local family business has become one of Europe’s leading equipment rental companies. Today, owner and CEO Pierre Boels Jr. leads the second generation of the business, with Sittard still home to the Group’s headquarters.
With more than 800 locations across 27 countries, over 8,800 employees and annual revenues of approximately €1.9 billion, Boels offers the reach and ambition of an international group. Yet its family ownership continues to shape the business: decisions are made with a long-term perspective, entrepreneurship is encouraged and people take a practical approach to getting things done.
Growth runs through Boels’ history. Alongside organic expansion, acquisitions have opened new markets and broadened its expertise. Cramo significantly expanded the Group’s presence in Northern Europe, while Riwal strengthened its international position and specialist rental offering. Bringing new businesses into the Group creates fresh opportunities to share knowledge, improve operations and build on each other’s strengths.
At the heart of Boels is an extensive rental fleet, ranging from everyday tools to large machines and specialist equipment. Behind that fleet sits a fast-moving operation, where availability, smart investment and efficient asset use directly influence performance. Serving customers across countries, industries and locations brings both scale and complexity—and plenty of interesting challenges for Finance.
As the business expands, Boels continues to strengthen its processes, systems and collaboration across countries and acquired companies. For finance professionals, this offers the opportunity to help shape an evolving international organization, contribute to its next stage of growth and see the impact of their work. All within a business that remains entrepreneurial, down-to-earth and firmly connected to its family roots.
