As Business Controller, you'll be the finance business partner to the commercial organisation, translating data into actionable insights that drive growth. Working closely with the Commercial Director, you'll lead budgeting, forecasting and project control for new shop openings while enhancing reporting, automation and financial processes. In this highly visible role, you'll help build a scalable finance function and directly contribute to Wundermart's continued international growth.

You will be the trusted finance partner for the commercial teams, supporting new shop openings, account management and business development. By analysing monthly financial performance and transforming data into meaningful insights, you'll enable both management and commercial stakeholders to make better decisions. You'll take ownership of project administration, monitor investments and track the financial performance of new openings from day one.

Working closely with the Commercial Director, you'll drive the annual budgeting process and continuous forecasting while ensuring commercial decisions are backed by accurate financial insights. You'll further develop reporting capabilities, oversee commercial income streams such as license fees and rebates, and collaborate with the Data & Analytics and Tech teams to automate processes and improve efficiency, including optimising the Adyen reconciliation process.

This is a highly visible role with plenty of scope to make an impact. With your continuous improvement mindset, you'll identify opportunities to optimise processes, implement scalable financial solutions and help build a finance function that can support Wundermart's ambitious international growth.
In this role, you'll report directly to Meindert Engwerda, Finance Director, and join a collaborative and ambitious finance team comprising two Controllers and two Accounting colleagues. Together, you'll play a key role in supporting Wundermart's continued growth.

  • 3–5+ years of relevant experience in Business Control, Transaction Services, Advisory or a comparable finance role with a strong commercial focus. Experience in a fast-growing, professional scale-up environment is a strong plus.
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Economics or a related field.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights and management recommendations.
  • Hands-on, entrepreneurial and proactive, with a genuine drive to continuously improve processes and challenge the status quo.
  • Experience building and optimising reporting, budgeting and forecasting processes in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable working with Excel, financial models and raw datasets to improve analyses, reporting and decision-making.
  • Experienced in optimising financial data flows, ensuring accounting entries, processes and documentation are scalable, well-controlled and audit-proof.
  • A confident business partner who communicates effectively, builds strong stakeholder relationships and enjoys working closely with commercial teams.
  • Thrives in a dynamic, international scale-up environment where ownership, collaboration and continuous improvement are key.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken; Dutch, German and/or French are considered a plus.
