International Controller - Salsa Shop
Amsterdam
What do you do?

At Salsa Shop, they believe good food should be fast, fresh and full of flavour. Backed by Egeria, the company has grown rapidly over the last few years and now operates 18 restaurants across the Netherlands. With an annual like-for-like growth rate of approximately 20%, Salsa Shop continues to expand its Dutch footprint while preparing for the next phase: international expansion into Germany, Austria and Belgium.

Working closely with the CFO and Business Controller, you will ensure the organization has financial control, reporting discipline and governance required to support this continued growth and international expansion. You will collaborate extensively with operational leadership, the external accountant partner Scope, auditors and advisors to build a robust and scalable finance function.

A key part of your role will be supporting Salsa Shop’s international expansion. As the company establishes its first operations outside the Netherlands, you will help build the financial backbone required to support growth across multiple countries. This includes setting up and maintaining legal entity structures, intercompany and cross-charge processes, local compliance requirements, reporting frameworks and governance structures. Together with the CFO and external advisors, you will help ensure the organization operates efficiently and compliantly across different jurisdictions.

In parallel, you will play a leading role in professionalizing and future-proofing the finance function. Several core processes have to be made ready for the next stage of maturity, including the implementation of a Purchase Order process and approval matrix, further standardization of the Chart of Accounts, automation of expense and reporting processes, and optimization of the month-end close. Furthermore, you will critically assess the current operating model. Today, a significant part of the accounting is outsourced to Scope. You will manage this relationship, improve the quality and efficiency of their work, and assess what the most scalable finance operating model should look like going forward. With a planned trial audit in 2026 and statutory audit requirements from 2027 onwards, you will ensure the finance organization becomes increasingly robust, efficient and audit ready. Throughout this process, you will actively leverage technology, automation and AI to simplify processes, improve data quality and create a scalable finance platform that can support Salsa Shop’s continued growth ambitions.

More about Salsa Shop

Salsa Shop is a unique fast-casual food concept. In 2014, four childhood friends in Amsterdam had a vision: real Mexican cuisine, right here in Europe. Fresh, high-quality ingredients, a unique counter concept, and customizable, delicious meals made the first Amsterdam Salsa Shop an instant hit with its fresh flavors and unique environment, and they started to expand. They believe Mexican Food is not a trend or a caricature of crunchy tacos and stale chips. It’s vibrant, nutritious, and alive with flavor. At Salsa Shop, they redefine fast food: quick, wholesome, guilt-free and full of life. Every avocado, bell pepper and tomato is delivered fresh daily and prepared with care – because freshness is happiness.

Culture
What makes Salsa Shop unique is the magic vibe of the company: a vibe created by the passion of an amazing and dedicated team, as well as by the unique shop and brand experience. But it is also a vibe created by another less tangible layer to their proposition: a vibe that people like to be a part of, a vibe of fun, creativity, humour, but also of inclusivity, genuine love for people, and care for the planet.
They have a passionate, committed team of 300 colleagues working in the restaurants, supported by a strong team of 15 working in their head office in Amsterdam. Because of their lean HQ setup, direct reporting lines and the scale-up phase they’re in, this is a place where you can truly make an impact — shaping processes, driving change, and seeing the results of your work quickly.
They’re hands-on, fast-paced, and not afraid to get their hands dirty — whether that means spending time in the shops or diving deep into data. They take their work seriously, but not themselves: there’s room for humor, fun, and good food. They love to come to the office in Amsterdam-East, where the energy is high, and the atmosphere is open and informal. At the same time, they believe in flexibility when it comes to where and how you work.

Strategy
With the backing of Egeria, Salsa Shop has grown rapidly over the last few years, reaching 18 restaurants and a 20% like-for-like growth. Last year, the company opened four new stores in prime locations, and it plans to open four additional locations before year-end, bringing the total footprint to 22 restaurants. Alongside this growth, Salsa Shop continues to invest in technical innovation, guest experience and marketing. Looking ahead, the company plans to continue expanding, with international openings in Germany, Austria, and Belgium. Their ambition is to become a leading brand across Europe, making fresh, vibrant Mexican cuisine accessible to everyone.
