What do you do?

BLOS has experienced tremendous growth over the past 3 years, from 7 to more than 320 locations. They became part of the Babilou Family (French Private Equity party) in 2021 and together they continue this strategic growth ambition. In this new phase there is a focus on investing in processes, systems and people to further build a solid and scalable finance foundation. Contributing to the journey of a new generation.

We are looking for a proactive and energetic Business Controller to join the BLOS finance team. You report directly to the Senior Business Controller and will be the Financial Business Partner for the Regional Management Team and Regional Directors within BLOS. You work closely together with the CFO, Senior Business Controller and your other direct Business Control colleague. Just like your colleagues within Business Control, you are primarily responsible for your own region. You provide insights, high-quality analyses and recommendations which support the business and challenge them to take the right actions that will add direct value. Within the team, you will be each other’s backup, help and spar with each other if necessary, the regions can be rotated over time. You are responsible for the periodic management reporting & analyses, the annual budget, (rolling) forecast and latest estimate for your region. Besides that you are the sparring partner for the regional directors, regional management and other stakeholders. You not only support them with key business insights about their financial and operational performance, but also ask them daily the question: are we still doing the right thing to provide the best care and remain financially healthy, or can we do better? You are the financial backbone for your region and continuously challenge the business on the risks and opportunities you see, keeping a sharp eye on the balance between quality of care, costs and efficiency. Using Reporting tools, you make sure that the right control information is clear, and you tell the story behind it. Not only during the periodic business review, but there will also be many ad hoc analyses, investment proposals, business cases and integration projects within the region.

Good to know

You focus on improving the performance for existing locations and will also be involved in enhancing processes within BLOS. Some key activities you will be involved in are: business cases for opening, closing and optimizing locations, focus on costs development (ZZP hires, variable costs) and supporting staff departments perform better (for example give HR insight in their targets). You have a forward looking focus and support with identifying risks and opportunities.

Who are you?

You are a skilled and persuasive Business advisor, with an analytical mindset who loves to work in a dynamic business. You know how to create support for (strategic) decisions and you are not afraid to speak your mind. In addition to having a solid financial background and strong communication skills, you have a “can do”-mentality and are able to create relationships and support the business In any way you can.

And who has the scale-up mentality which involves getting your hands dirty and tackling many things you haven’t encountered before.”

  • Bachelor or Master degree in Finance, Economics or Accountancy preferable with Post-Master Qualification (RA, ACCA, CPA, RC, CMA)
  • >5 years of relevant experience in Financial Control, Business Control, FP&A, Accountancy or Consultancy
  • Excellent communication skills in English and preferably Dutch 
  • (Strong) knowledge of Excel, ERP and reporting (BI) tools and getting insights out of (unstructured) data
  • A hands-on work style and dares to think outside the box 
  • Able to build strong relationships, support and challenge the business
