With new acquisitions across Europe and most recently in Germany, the scope and reach of the TB Auctions Group has increased further. Due to the rapid developments and growth, TB Auctions is looking for a additional Business Controller to join their team.

As the Business Controller at TB Auctions, you will immerse yourself in the dynamics of a fast growing platform auction business. You'll analyze financial data to uncover insights and collaborate with the brands in various countries. Alongside another Business Controller, you will report directly to the Group Business Controller. TB Auctions comprises 8 brands, each varying in size, contributing to a fast-paced and dynamic team environment. Within the Group Business Control team, each Business Controller serves as the dedicated business advisor for several brands and central functions, while also managing individual projects. Due to the broad scope, you will support one another as needed, rotate responsibilities over time to broaden your experience, and work together on strategic projects.

As the Business Controller you will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial strategy and performance of the organization. Your primary responsibilities include analysing KPI’s and financial financial data on all brands within the group and assessing their performance. You will be working on the periodic management reporting & analyses, the annual budget, (rolling) forecast and latest estimates. Besides that you are the sparring partner for the local managing directors and other stakeholders. In the monthly Business review, you support them with key business insights about their financial and operational performance. Together, you will evaluate the current state of the business and determine the next steps. Along with the business control team, you will prepare business insights for the executive team and play a role in presenting them.

Besides the business reviews, the team focuses on the specific questions about operational and commercial performance. Each brand has its own business model, which adds complexity and individuality with analysis. Together with the business you dive deep to identify the underlying causes of variances and deviations, ultimately revealing the true story behind the numbers. In this capacity, you will play a crucial role as a Finance Business Partner, pinpointing the causes and determining the next best practices.

  • Masters degree in Finance, Accountancy & Control, Economics, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience within a dynamic work environment
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in English, both spoken and written; a robust, open discussion partner at all levels.
  • High energy level, a strong analytical skillset combined with a hands-on mentality: pragmatic and action-oriented.
  • Highly proficient at tools like Excel & Powerpoint. Lucanet and/or PowerBi skills are nice to haves.
  • Self-starting professional who drives improvements where this is identified;

TB Auctions came to life in 2018 when Troostwijk Auctions and BVA Auctions merged. Together, they have set out the organisations mission to be Europe’s leading online auction company. TB Auctions HQ is in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Their labels/partners, however, have locations all over Europe. TB Auctions operates in a fragmented environment with a lot of opportunities for consolidation. In January 2022, TB Auctions was acquired by a Private Equity firm to support the next phase of growth.

With the support of these forces, TB Auctions will continue to strengthen its excellent market position within existing geographies and industries, accelerating organic growth and accelerating the pace of add-on acquisitions to build the leading pan-European auction house. In 2022, with the support of their investors, several successful acquisitions were made. Swedish auction platforms PS Auction and Klaravik, as well as Norwegian auction platforms Auksjonen.no and Plustech have joined TB Auctions. Also, the group expanded to UK and France in the field of Medical Auctioning. Further throughout 2023 acquisitions in the Netherlands and Denmark increased the scope and reach of the TB Auctions Group further.
