As the Business Controller you work closely together with the CFO, your colleague in Business Control (Software) and the assistant controllers. You have your own core focus on the business line Services, but challenge and support each other when necessary. It is your responsibility to establish a valuable relationship with the business. You will start by setting up and optimizing the management reporting, working closely together with the business to determine their key drivers and KPI’s both a commercial level (e.g. turnover, gross margin, recurring revenue/renewed, pipeline, conversion, budget variance, planned value) and an efficiency level (billable utilization, time spent). From there you manage the monthly reporting, periodic (re)forecasts and budget process. You will provide insight in the performance, variances, risks and opportunities during the periodic business reviews. Together with the COO and Sales management, you discuss the P&L, share your insights on trends, risks and opportunities. By challenging the business, you enable them to take informed business decisions which improves the margin and profitability.
In order to maintain a reliable business control framework, it is key to manage a smooth periodic (monthly and quarterly) close process. To do so, you review the accounting and provide a financial sanity check. It is important that you know and understand the business processes, the underlying finance processes and the complexity of international entities and subsequent compliance processes. You initiate efficiency adjustments to the core financial processes by identifying improvements and automation opportunities.
Because of the strategic growth, you will be involved in numerous (ad hoc) analyses, projects and business cases. You play a crucial role in embedding the finance business partner function into the organization. Not only by creating valuable insights that support the decision-making, but also by actively seeking dialogue with the business. You are eager to deep dive into the numbers to really understand why there are variances and what this means for the business. Your insights, analyses and advice contributes directly to the strategic growth ambition.
You are a skilled and persuasive business advisor, with an analytical mindset who loves to work in a fast-growing, international, and dynamic business. You know how to create support for (strategic) decisions and are not afraid to speak your mind.
